Temperatures averaged 78.9 degrees, +7.4 above normal for the period.  

Soil temperatures, for the period, at 2” have averaged 70.1 degrees, 4” average is 70.1 degrees, 8” average is 69.6 degrees and 20” average is 65.1 degrees. +7.0 overall increase, on average, from the previous period. 

Soil Moisture for the period at 4” averaged 0.33 bar – normal and drying out, and at 8” averaged 0.11 bar –wet but drying out.

Astronomical Summer in full force this week with 7 temperature records broken (2 Max, 3 High Min, 2 High Ave) and above normal precipitation the past week, however still below overall. The short-term soil moistures improved but dry out quickly. Continued below normal totals for both the Water Year and Calendar Year. 

 With the heat, birds are frequenting the bird feeder and water bath with needing to fill the feeder twice per day. Geese have growing goslings. Squirrels and rabbits are out often along with the chipmunks.  Lawns have greened with the rains, with the mowing once per week. Rhubarb continues growing, with peonies done. Planter box of peppers and tomatoes needs supplemental irrigation but are growing very well with fruit budded out.
