The first major heatwave of the season has impacted much of the central U.S and midwest bringing temperatures well above average with strong gusty winds. Conditions have been mildly dry given the recently dry conditions and above average temperatures with temperatures hovering close to the record high over the last few days. While temperatures have been relatively high, there was some precipitation prior to the heatwave. Precipitation was near a tenth of an inch. Otherwise, conditions have been relatively dry for many. In addition, strong winds from this major heat wave have brought some tree lines, branches and numerous leaves down given the strong winds over the last few days. While conditions have been windy, this has brought wildlife to a minimum. Furthermore, insects have not been as numerous given the strong winds.
