Monterey County, CA. May 28, 2023: Observing typical weather for coastal Monterey in May. A marine layer that clears later in the day is accompanied by cool weather (low to mid-60s) and light winds. Grasses in the green belt are turning brown and vernal ponds are drying up. I do not see as many songbirds or hummingbirds usually present this time of year. Plenty of crows and hawks are present, though, and the fields are full of young mice that keep our cat busy.
