Although we had a lot of moisture through July, we have had very little rain since the beginning of  August. Last major rain (August 16) came so hard and fast it mostly ran off, and we have only had about 1/2" since then. Ground is cracked, grass is drying up...have mowed once a week since May, now only have to occasionally mow areas that are shaded.  Even perennials showing stress. My 4 rain barrels have been empty for weeks now. Some of our farmer friends are complaining that bean yields may be affected.   I am worried that my new evergreens won't get enough moisture to protect them this winter.
