Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-LK-84
Station Name: Waukegan 1.7 E
Report Date: 7/23/2017
Submitted: 7/23/2017 8:55 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Wet
Description:
Another significant rainfall this several days ago has left things pretty moist. The soil was still holding a good amount of moisture before more than an inch of rain fell. Now it's wet. Some shrubs around the station, like the Corylus americana, are showing effects of being over-watered, but most of the plants here are responding very well to all the rain. So are the mosquitoes, populations of which have exploded in the last week or so. Have seen some cardinals around a lot lately, some wrens, a few sparrows and doves, but otherwise birds seem a little scarce.
